 Change Maker Presentation Reflection

The Change Maker Presentation was a great learning experience because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about an important historical figure while also improving my presentation skills. Before starting this project, I knew a little bit about George Washington, but I did not realize how much of an impact he had on the United States and democracy. Researching him helped me understand why he is considered one of the most important leaders in American history. I also enjoyed listening to my classmates’ presentations because I learned about many other change makers and their contributions to society.

One of the biggest things I learned from this project was that change makers are people who help make a difference in the world through their actions, leadership, and ideas. My presentation focused on George Washington, and I learned that his contributions went far beyond being the first president. He helped lead the American colonies during the Revolutionary War and played a major role in helping create the new government. One fact that stood out to me was that he chose to step down after serving two terms as president. He could have stayed in power longer, but he believed that leadership should be shared and that democracy was more important than personal power. Learning about this made me appreciate how much he cared about the future of the country.

Working on this presentation also taught me the importance of doing research. I had to find reliable information, organize my ideas, and decide which facts were most important to include. At first, it felt like a lot of information to go through, but once I started organizing everything, it became easier to understand. This project showed me that research is not just about finding facts. It is also about understanding the information and being able to explain it to others in a way that makes sense.

Another thing I learned was how important preparation is when giving a presentation. I spent time creating my slides and practicing what I wanted to say. Even though I was still a little nervous, being prepared helped me feel more confident. Public speaking is not always easy, especially when speaking in front of classmates, but this project gave me more experience and helped me become more comfortable. I learned that practicing beforehand can make a big difference and help reduce stress when presenting.

I also learned a lot from watching the other presentations. Everyone chose different change makers, which made the presentations interesting because there was a variety of topics. Some students talked about political leaders, while others focused on inventors, activists, or people who fought for equal rights. Listening to these presentations helped me learn about people I had never heard of before and showed me how different individuals have made positive changes in the world.

One thing I liked about the other projects was seeing how each student had their own style of presenting. Some students were very confident and spoke clearly, while others used creative slides and visuals to make their presentations more engaging. It was interesting to see the different ways people shared information. Watching my classmates present gave me ideas about things I can do to improve my own presentations in the future.

I felt that most of the projects were well done because it was clear that students put effort into researching their topics. Many presentations included important facts and interesting details that helped explain why their change maker was significant. I enjoyed learning about different people and hearing stories about how they overcame challenges to achieve their goals. These stories were inspiring because they showed that determination and hard work can lead to meaningful change.

At the same time, watching other presentations made me think about my own performance. I think I did a good job preparing and understanding my topic, but there are still things I can improve. For example, I could work on speaking with more confidence and making more eye contact with the audience. Presenting in front of a group can be intimidating, but the more experience I get, the more comfortable I will become. This project helped me recognize both my strengths and areas where I can continue to grow.

Another lesson I took away from this project is that anyone can be a change maker. Before this assignment, I mostly thought of change makers as famous people in history. However, after learning about different individuals, I realized that change can come from anyone who is willing to take action and help others. Whether someone is a leader, scientist, activist, or teacher, they can make a positive impact on the world. This idea was encouraging because it shows that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Change Maker Presentation project. It helped me learn more about George Washington and the important role he played in shaping American democracy. It also helped me improve skills such as researching, organizing information, creating presentations, and speaking in front of an audience. Listening to my classmates’ presentations was just as valuable because I was able to learn about many other influential people and their contributions.

In conclusion, this project taught me a lot about history, leadership, and the qualities that make someone a change maker. It also gave me the chance to improve my public speaking and presentation skills. I enjoyed learning from both my own research and the presentations given by my classmates. The project reminded me that one person can make a big difference and that positive change often starts with determination, hard work, and the willingness to help others. Overall, this was a meaningful project that taught me lessons I can use both in school and in everyday life.
